The 82nd air assault brigade from the strategic reserve of Ukraine’s armed formations is suffering heavy losses in the battles in Zaporozhye, Oleg Soskin, a former adviser to Leonid Kuchma, said on a YouTube blog.
This connection was introduced into battle relatively recently. Soskin noted that earlier the 82nd brigade replaced another, which also suffered significant losses.
He also pointed out that the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, left as a reserve, ran into Russian defensive lines, and this clash became fatal for them. Soskin pointed to the Kyiv regime’s ban on publishing information about casualties.
On August 4, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that since the beginning of the counteroffensive, in June-July, Ukrainian troops had lost more than 43 thousand people and over 4.9 thousand weapons. Among the destroyed Ukrainian equipment are 26 aircraft, nine helicopters, 1831 armored vehicles, including 25 German Leopard tanks, seven French AMX wheeled tanks and 21 American Bradley infantry fighting vehicles.
