Every third person tried to become an entrepreneur // Monitoring of business activity

Survey data from Ipsos, a market research firm, shows growth in entrepreneurial activity around the world. One third of respondents (a total of 21,000 people surveyed in 26 countries) reported having entrepreneurial experience. The same number are ready to start their own business in the next two years. The share of those interested in developing their business is higher in Latin America and India, and lower in Japan, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Sweden. In part, the company’s analysts explain these results by the dissatisfaction of citizens with their financial prospects – the growth of their incomes does not keep pace with the growth in the cost of living due to inflation. The survey revealed a growing interest in business development from women and young people, as well as people with a low level of education or income. Traditionally, entrepreneurship has been the domain of men with college degrees and high incomes. In 2018, 23% of women and 33% of men reported having a business, in 2022 – 28% and 34%, respectively.
