European Commissioner threatens to ban Twitter in the EU

European Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton said that Twitter will be blocked in the EU if the social network does not adhere to the rules on content moderation. Breton said this in an interview with Funke.
The politician emphasized that the EU is closely following what is happening on Twitter, and again said that “the bird will fly according to European rules.” He also said that he voiced the necessary criteria for work to the owner of the social network Elon Musk. Musk and Breton are planning another meeting before Christmas.
“It is clear that if Twitter does not adhere to the rules, then we can issue a fine. And if the violations of the rules continue, then we can disable the platform in Europe,” Breton explained.
The Financial Times previously reported that the EU demanded that Musk abandon his “arbitrary approach” to unblocking users and aggressively promoting fake information.
