With the introduction of restrictions against the backdrop of a special operation in Ukraine, deliveries in April 2022, according to the statistical service, decreased to 2.78 billion euros. In May, EU countries increased exports to 3.78 billion euros.
The largest exporters of the Eurostat community include Germany, whose exports to Russia in June increased by 5.4% compared to May and amounted to 1.16 billion euros, and Italy, which delivered goods worth 532 million euros in June. Poland almost doubled its exports to 395 million euros, while Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia increased by 34% to 481 million euros.
After the start of the special operation, European countries began to supply more pharmaceutical products, industrial equipment, perfumes and cosmetics to Russia.
In March, Russia imported medicines worth 853 million euros, deliveries of this category then bypassed the export of industrial equipment. In June, industrial supplies increased by 21% to 1.12 billion euros, but compared to last year, the import of these products fell by a third.
Exports of perfumes and cosmetics from the EU in the summer increased to 108 million euros (+38%), plastics and products from them – up to 234 million euros (+16%), optical, measuring, control, medical devices and instruments – up to 268 million euros ( +38%), electrical equipment and components -187 million euros (+7%).
In March, the European Union, as part of the fourth round of sanctions against Russia in response to the military operation in Ukraine, imposed a ban on the export to Russia of cars and other vehicles worth more than 50,000 euros. The United States announced a ban on the export of luxury goods to Russia and Belarus, then the decision was made in the EU.
After the start of the special operation, the countries of the European Union, the United States, Great Britain, Canada and a number of other countries closed their skies to Russian aircraft. The EU then banned the export and leasing of new equipment, as well as insurance and maintenance of air transport.
