EU sanctions prevent Equinor from helping investigate Nord Stream explosions

The sanctions imposed by the EU prevented the Norwegian company Equinor from taking part in the investigation into the explosions of the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, transmits Reuters, citing a company statement.
“The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised that working with pipelines will be a violation of the kingdom’s sanctions policy, and, accordingly, EU sanctions rules,” the report says.
The incident on the gas pipelines occurred on the night of September 26, 2022. Then pressure dropped in both pipelines, and later two leaks were discovered, which were located in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Sweden, and two more in the Danish EEZ. Initially, the three countries agreed to conduct a joint investigation, but later this idea was abandoned.
In early October, the Swedish State Security Service (SEPO) announced the completion of the investigation at Nord Stream. Investigators said they were “increasing suspicions of gross sabotage”, but they also did not name those responsible for the incident.
In Moscow, the damage to gas pipelines was described as a “terrorist attack at the state level.” On September 30 of the same year, during his speech in the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the West of sabotage on the Nord Stream highways and the destruction of the European energy structure.
