The foreign ministers of the European Union countries did not agree on military assistance to Ukraine at a meeting in Brussels. This was announced by the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell.
At the meeting, they also discussed increasing the volume of the European Peace Fund. According to Borrell, there was a “serious discussion.” It will continue at the next meeting on February 19.
“We discussed the situation on the battlefield, support, as well as a support fund for Ukraine, which should be agreed upon soon. Everyone agrees that Ukraine needs more weapons, more support, which should come now,” Borrell said at a press conference.
Earlier, EU leaders approved the allocation of assistance to Kyiv in the amount of €50 billion over four years. But the decision to increase the volume of the European Peace Fund was postponed; foreign ministers were instructed to finalize this initiative.
