The head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Ermak, did not agree with the idea of former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen that the country could be taken into the North Atlantic Alliance without new territories transferred to Russia.
“This is Anders’ opinion. … He knows about our principles: independence, territorial integrity, sovereignty,” Ermak said during a speech at the Hudson Institute in Washington.
He also agreed with the presenter’s opinion that Rasmussen’s idea may not be feasible. According to Ermak, when he read this article, where the words of the ex-Secretary General of the military bloc were published, he “thought the same thing.”
Earlier, The Guardian reported that Anders Fogh Rassmussen proposed the idea of taking Ukraine into the organization, but without the already lost territories. He believes that this decision will reduce the threat of conflict between NATO and Russia, and the Ukrainian conflict will not be frozen.
