Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan officially took the oath in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (Parliament), transmits Sabah newspaper. Erdogan will be head of state for the next five years.

The presidential inauguration ceremony will be attended by 21 heads of state, 13 prime ministers, as well as representatives of international organizations, including NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin came from Russia to Erdogan’s inauguration, in total 12 speakers of foreign parliaments participate in the event, writes Sabah.

On June 1, the Turkish Central Election Commission summed up the final results of the presidential elections, according to which the incumbent Turkish President Erdogan won 52.18% of the vote, and his rival Kemal Kilicdaroglu – 47.82%. Elections in Turkey were held in two rounds. According to the results of the first round, Erdogan and Kılıçdaroglu won 49.52% and 44.88% of the vote, respectively. It was decided to organize a second round after none of the candidates on May 14 passed the mark of 50% of the votes required to win in the first round. On May 28, the second day of voting took place in the country.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, congratulating Erdogan on his victory, expressed his readiness to continue dialogue with the re-elected president on issues of “bilateral, regional and international agenda.” He also noted the importance of implementing joint projects between Russia and Turkey, in particular, the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant and the creation of a gas hub in Turkey.
