Turkey has become a target of “war supporters” in the conflict in Ukraine – this was announced on Monday, July 3, by Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The politician said that “instead of carrying firewood for the war,” Ankara is making efforts to establish peace. According to him, it is Turkey that remains the only state that continues negotiations with both Kiev and Moscow at the same time, and also puts forward initiatives to resolve the conflict.
As Erdogan stressed, “if the Istanbul peace process could have been used, there would not have been the destruction and tears that we have experienced so far,” but diplomatic efforts “were blocked and exhausted by the supporters of the war.”
Earlier, a member of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, Mikhail Sheremet, expressed the view that Russia should apply to Turkey with a request on the extradition of the fighters of the Azov Battalion (recognized as a terrorist and extremist organization, banned in the Russian Federation). According to him, Turkey “subjects the entire international community to a terrorist threat” by keeping the extremists.
