Erdogan invited Muslim countries to create a fund for the reconstruction of Gaza

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan believes that Muslim countries need to create a fund for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. He stated this at a joint summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the League of Arab States in Riyadh.

“As the Islamic world, we certainly cannot leave our Palestinian brothers abandoned and helpless. We believe that it is necessary to create a fund within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for the reconstruction of Gaza,” leads his words Anadolu.

Erdogan again criticized Israel for its ongoing attacks on the Gaza Strip, saying that as the West’s “spoiled child” it had an obligation to compensate for the damage. Turkey, in turn, will, according to him, provide all possible support for the construction and revival of the enclave.

Since the outbreak of hostilities between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas, Erdogan has made a number of anti-Israeli statements. On October 28, at a rally in support of Palestine in Istanbul, he accused Tel Aviv in war crimes, promising to officially declare it a war criminal, and called the state of Israel an occupier.

Erdogan previously said that achieving peace in the region depends on the creation of an independent Palestinian state that would be recognized by all countries. He also said that Turkey has never condoned attacks on civilians, including Israeli civilians. At the same time, in his opinion, Israel is “committing one of the most brutal attacks in history against the oppressed in Gaza.” The Turkish leader also added that the United States and Israel will lose because they oppose justice.

On October 7, Israel began bombing the Gaza Strip. This happened after the Palestinian group Hamas attacked the southern regions of the country. During the Israeli attack, about 1,400 people were killed, and more than 200 were taken hostage by militants. The Palestinian Ministry of Health said more than 10,800 people were killed as a result of Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip. The number of wounded exceeds 26,400 people.
