Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara launched a military operation in northern Syria, including due to the fact that Russia refused to “fulfill its duty” in this region. His words are quoted by the Daily Sabah.
Erdogan said that in 2019 in Sochi an agreement was allegedly reached between Turkey and Russia, under which Moscow undertook to destroy terrorists in northern Syria and Iraq.
“Moscow refuses to fulfill its duty,” Erdogan said, adding that Ankara would not remain silent and would independently “take measures against terrorists.”
The Turkish President also confirmed that Ankara had attacked the Syrian Kobani region. According to him, the operation will continue.
