About 11 million tons of agricultural products were exported from Ukraine as part of a grain deal, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during a speech at the G20 summit in Bali.

“I am of the opinion that its action will continue. There are no problems with this,” Erdogan noted, adding that in total, about 11 million tons of grain were exported from Ukraine as part of the grain deal (quote by AFP).

Turkish leader also emphasizedthat, in his opinion, the grain export agreement will be extended after the November 19 deadline. He added that Ankara is making every effort to extend the agreement for a year, because “it is important for the whole world.”

Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko the day before statedthat the decision on the possibility of extending the grain deal will be made by the Russian government before the date of its expiration – November 19. To date, 431 vessels have already taken part in the deal, which supplied agricultural products, she added.

Negotiations between the Russian side and UN representatives to extend the grain deal began in mid-October. To this end, UN Deputy Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths and head of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Rebeca Greenspan arrived in Moscow. Russia suspended participation in the grain deal on October 29 after the Ukrainian side attacked the ships of the Black Sea Fleet with drones in the roadstead in Sevastopol, using the humanitarian corridor intended for ships with grain for the attack.

November 2 Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported on the resumption of Russia’s participation in the Ukrainian grain deal. The ministry stressed that the Russian side received written guarantees from Ukraine not to use the grain corridor for combat operations against Russia.
