Ankara does not intend to report to the EU for participation in the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Samarkand. This statement was made by Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan.
Turkey is not accountable to the European Union (EU), the head of the republic pointed out.
Erdogan added that he has the right to meet with all countries of the world. He recalled that Turkey is part of the world and is negotiating with all states.
“When we held meetings with European Union member states, we did not receive questions like “Why did you meet with them?” Erdogan commented.
Jurgen Trittin, foreign policy spokesman for the parliamentary group of the Greens in the Bundestag, called for sanctions against Turkey because of its close cooperation with Russia.
The dissatisfaction of the German politician, in particular, was caused by the desire of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to make the country a member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which, among other things, includes Russia.
