Erdogan allowed Putin’s visit to Turkey on April 27

Russian President Vladimir Putin may visit Turkey on April 27 to take part in the nuclear fuel loading ceremony at the Akkuyu nuclear power plant. About it informed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in an interview with A Haber TV channel.

“The Akkuyu NPP construction project is being successfully implemented. There is a possibility that Mr. Putin will come [в Турцию] for the April 27 ceremony. Perhaps we will take part in it together in an online format, ”he said.

The day before, March 29, Erdogan informedthat on April 27, nuclear fuel will be loaded into the first power unit of the nuclear power plant. According to him, after that the object will be considered atomic. Former Turkish leader pointed outthat Akkuyu will make an important contribution to providing Turkey with electricity.

Akkuyu will be the first nuclear power plant in Turkey. In May 2010, Russia and Turkey entered into an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation, according to which the Russian Federation acts as the builder and owner of the station. The project, worth about $22 billion, will consist of four units based on VVER-1200 reactors with a capacity of 1,200 MW each. Two power units have already been built, the construction of the third began in March 2021. In October of the same year, a decision was agreed to issue a license for the construction of the fourth unit.
