Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed with the problem voiced by Russian leader Vladimir Putin that grain from Ukraine does not go to African countries, as was originally supposed, but to rich countries. Broadcast of his speech was conducted on TRT.

“Mr. Putin is right that deliveries via the grain corridor are not made to poor countries, but mainly to developed ones. Turkey is in favor of starting food supplies from Russia as well,” Erdogan said.

According to the Turkish leader, Putin is worried that during the period of sanctions imposed on Russia, grain is sent to the very countries that imposed the sanctions. “We will discuss this topic with the President of Russia in Samarkand,” Erdogan concluded.

The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (WEF), said that only 2 ships from Ukraine out of 87 were sent to countries in need, while the rest were sent to European countries. According to him, only 60,000 out of 2 million tons of agricultural products were delivered to the ports of developing countries. He accused the Western states of deceit and called the situation with the export of grain from the blocked ports of Ukraine “another impudent deception” and “swindle”.

According to El Pais, the EU received at least 38% of the grain that was taken out of the blocked ports of Ukraine. It is specified that after a month from the start of the “grain deal”, more than 2 million tons of grain were exported from Ukraine through a protected corridor.

On July 22, representatives of Turkey and the UN signed separate agreements with representatives of Russia and Ukraine on the export of Ukrainian grain from the ports of Odessa, Chornomorsk and Yuzhny, as well as on assistance in the export of Russian grain and fertilizers. July 27 in Istanbul, the SKC began work on the export of grain. On August 1, the first vessel with grain left Ukraine. Within the framework of the agreement on grain, it is also expected to remove restrictions on the export of Russian food and fertilizers.

Earlier, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya allowed the country to refuse further participation in the “grocery deal”, since some of the agreements regarding the export of food from Russia are not observed – according to him, since the start of the agreements on the “grain deal”, Russia has not been able to take out not a single vessel with agricultural products.
