The Ukrainian military opened fire on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, says in the Telegram channel of the military-civilian administration (CAA) of Energodar. Four hits were recorded in the area of the storage of radioactive isotopes.
“The Armed Forces of Ukraine again opened artillery fire on the territory of the ZNPP. Today, four hits on the Zaporizhzhya NPP in the area of the storage of radioactive isotopes were recorded. No damage was caused to the infrastructure and key nodes of the station, ”the message says. The CAA noted that at present no pollution has been recorded at the station, the radiation background is also normal.
The Ministry of Defense previously reported that over the past day, the Zaporizhzhya NPP was fired upon by Ukrainian troops twice. The position of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, from where the shelling was carried out, was located to the west of the settlement of Marganets, Dnepropetrovsk region.
On August 25, the head of the pro-Russian military-civilian administration (VGA) of Zaporozhye, Yevgeny Balitsky, reported 17 strikes on the territory of the ZNPP over the past 24 hours. According to him, a total of 29 shellings were recorded in the region.
During the special operation, the Russian Armed Forces took control of a part of the Zaporozhye region of Ukraine, including Energodar, where the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity, the ZNPP, is located. Now the Armed Forces of Ukraine are regularly shelling Energodar, the surrounding villages and the territory of the ZNPP adjacent to the city.
The head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, expressed concern about the situation around the ZNPP. He said that he would personally lead a mission to the nuclear power plant in the next few days. Bloomberg reported that the arrival of IAEA experts to the station will take place no later than September 5.
