This year, the Russian energy and metallurgical holding En+ organized the Siberian robotics festival “RoboSib” for the ninth time.
The festival takes place on January 19 and 20 in Irkutsk. The competition involves roboticists aged from 4 to 22 years old – a total of 115 teams from the Irkutsk region, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Novosibirsk and Buryatia, the company’s press service reported.
The company noted that due to the large number of people wishing to take part in the event, the organizers complicated the competitive tasks of the qualifying round. The winners of the festival will traditionally go to the Russian National Robotics Championship. This year it will be held in Krasnoyarsk.
Robofest guests will be able to attend master classes, create interactive postcards and spend time in the play area. The press release notes that this season En+ will hold the “Energy in Action” competition for the second time. Participants will be tasked with developing a hydropower project, as well as answering questions related to the construction and operating principle of a hydroelectric power station and working at the test site.
The festival has been held since 2013 on the initiative of En+ founder Oleg Deripaska, who began developing robotics in Russia back in the 2000s. The press service of En+ emphasized that the project supports the interest of young people in the exact sciences and attracts fresh personnel to engineering and technical specialties.
The development of robotics in Russian regions coincides with one of the strategic instructions of the President of the Russian Federation. Last year, Vladimir Putin ordered the government to prepare a federal project for the development of domestic robotics. The Russian leader noted that it is important to develop the sphere based on modern economic requirements.
