Election violations were recorded in 12 regions

During the elections, election commissions recorded violations in 12 regions out of 86 subjects where the procedures took place. About it stated Head of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Ella Pamfilova at a briefing on the preliminary voting results.

“As of 10 am this morning, September 11, out of 86 subjects where there were campaigns (we had campaigns in 85, but you know, the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug participated in the elections like a nesting doll) <…> there were cases in 12 regions,” said Pamfilova.

Violations were recorded in Bashkortostan, Kalmykia, Khabarovsk Territory, Vladimir, Irkutsk, Lipetsk, Novosibirsk, Samara, Tver, Ulyanovsk, Yaroslavl regions and Moscow. In these regions, violations occurred at 21 polling stations in total; 1,307 ballots were declared invalid.

“This figure is small, of course, small. But why are we so harsh about this? Behind each unit is a person who voted. And due to the fault of some unscrupulous people, 1,307 votes had to be declared invalid,” Pamfilova said, adding that those responsible must be punished.

She thanked the commissions for their prompt work in identifying and eliminating violations. Among the violations that Pamfilova identified were stuffing, exceeding the number of ballots from safe packages and stationary boxes, violation of the procedure for working with documentation, violation of the order during early voting, etc.

Elections in Russia took place from September 8 to 10 in 85 regions, with a total of 4,270 election campaigns at various levels. As a result, more than 33,000 mandates will be filled; over 85,000 candidates from 23 parties have nominated themselves for the elections. Representatives of 20 parties were registered, a total of 81,000 candidates, United Russia had the most candidates, then the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and the Liberal Democratic Party.
