During the three days of voting for the Russian President, Roskomnadzor (RKN) removed or blocked more than 12.8 thousand materials aimed at disrupting the elections. In addition, the department deleted 485 Telegram channels and identified 103 materials in the media that violate election laws.

“More than 12.8 thousand materials aimed at disrupting the elections were removed or blocked: containing calls for extremist and terrorist activities, false information related to the elections and SVO, insulting the president, as well as fake websites and accounts of the Central Election Commission and election commissions of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.” ,” the RKN press service reported in Telegram channel.

485 deleted Telegram channels, as stated in the material, contained information aimed at intimidating citizens with massive fakes about possible terrorist attacks, including at polling stations. In relation to the media in which materials violating the law were found, three administrative protocols have already been drawn up under Art. 5.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (Violation of the procedure for the participation of the media in information support of elections), the press service added.

The RKN also repelled 497 DDoS attacks that were carried out on the resources of the ICT election infrastructure – the CEC platforms and the remote electronic voting system (DEG). The power of the largest attack was 87 Gb/s, the maximum duration was 40 hours and 12 minutes. The main source countries of the attacks, according to the department, were Germany, Great Britain, the USA, Finland and Lithuania.

Head of the Central Election Commission Ella Pamfilova at a briefing on March 18 spokethat the electoral system faced more than 12 million DDoS attacks during the presidential campaign. According to her, 20 thousand dangerous influences were made on the Central Election Commission website during voting.

The presidential elections took place from March 15 to 17. According to the final calculations of the Central Election Commission, for Vladimir Putin (self-nominated) voted 87.28%, for Nikolai Kharitonov (Communist Party of the Russian Federation) – 4.31%, for Vladislav Davankov (New People) – 3.85%, for Leonid Slutsky (LDPR) – 3.20%. The final turnout was 77.49%.
