Duda declared Ukraine’s inability to conduct a successful counteroffensive

Ukraine is currently unable to mount a successful counter-offensive, despite its “much more modern military capabilities,” declared Polish President Andrzej Duda in an interview with The Washington Post.

“The question is, does Ukraine have enough weapons to change the balance of the war and gain the upper hand? And the answer is probably no,” Duda said. He admitted that the Ukrainian army “is unable to conduct a very decisive counter-offensive against the Russian military” due to a lack of weapons.

At the same time, answering the question of journalist Mark Thyssen about the military needs of Kyiv, the Polish leader said that “now Ukraine has a much more modern military potential than Russia.”

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) have been conducting offensive operations for more than two months, since the beginning of June. The Kremlin has repeatedly stated about the lack of success of the Ukrainian army and pointed to the heavy losses of the enemy.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken at the end of July declaredthat the Ukrainian offensive is going hard, and the Ukrainians have faced a number of serious problems during the fighting, including well-prepared defensive positions of the Russian forces. He noted that the counter-offensive, as expected by the United States, would last at least several months.

At the same time, foreign mercenaries, wounded and military personnel liquidated as a result of strikes in the rear areas were not included in the statistics. In addition, since the beginning of the counteroffensive, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have lost more than 4,900 units of various weapons, 26 aircraft, nine helicopters, 1,831 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, including 25 German Leopards, seven French AMXs and 21 American Bradleys, the ministry noted.
