Shot: Yuri Dud in Russia may be sentenced to a real prison term due to refusal to be labeled as a foreign agent
Journalist Yuri Dud (included in the register of foreign agents in the Russian Federation) may become involved in a criminal case due to non-compliance with the law on “foreign agents”.
Shot writes, that since mid-March Dud “stopped marking in his posts that he is a foreign agent,” in a new interview on YouTube, he also “for the first time since being recognized as a foreign agent, refused to insert markings.” The channel has calculated that Dud currently has “a couple of dozen unlabeled publications” on social networks, and each one is punishable by a fine, and if the violation is repeated within a year, the case can be reclassified from the Code of Administrative Offenses to the Criminal Code.
“The maximum penalty for it is up to two years in prison,” Shot emphasizes.
Yuri Dud was added to the register of foreign agents in April 2022 and immediately after that left Russia. Subsequently, he tried to challenge the decision of the Ministry of Justice, but the court sided with the authorities.
