DPR expects record harvest: liberated territories helped

Only domestic seed material is used

In the DPR, despite military operations, the sowing campaign has started. Moreover, thanks to the warm weather, it was completed ahead of schedule. Already at the end of February, farmers cultivated fertile lands and noted record shoots of winter crops.

This year, regional agricultural producers are fully provided with seed material and, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, about 180 thousand hectares are sown with winter crops. This is 5.2 hectares more than in 2023.

The sowing of spring grains has started. It is planned to sow almost 199 thousand hectares in the fields of the DPR. The seed material is already 91% ready. And this year, republican farmers plan to use seeds of domestic selection produced in the DPR, Rostov region, Krasnodar and Stavropol territories.

Winter crops have almost completely sprouted, and today farmers have begun applying fertilizers and preparing fields for cultivation.

According to the department, record harvests are expected in the DPR. In addition to the liberation of a significant part of the region’s territory, the leasing company of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture contributed to this. Thanks to the benefits, DPR farmers can receive agricultural machinery and units that increase the ability to cultivate, process and harvest crops.

The head of the regional Ministry of Agriculture, Artem Kramarenko, said that republican agricultural producers received a number of advantages, including a 20% discount on modern equipment – tractors, grain harvesters, forage harvesters.

Since the beginning of 2024, more than 140 applications have been received from DPR farmers for the purchase of special equipment on lease for a total amount of 839 million rubles, which became possible thanks to the signing of a cooperation agreement with leading equipment manufacturers in Russia. These are record figures for the rate of renewal of agricultural machinery among the annexed regions. The development of the republic’s agro-industrial complex is also facilitated by the region’s exemption from paying export duties on grain.

This year, the quota for duty-free export of grain from the people’s republics of Donbass and Novorossiya amounted to more than 2 million tons.

Last year, the Ministry of Agriculture of the DPR noted that the crops grown in the fields of the republic have great export potential. And as the department’s data show, this trend will continue this year.
