In a clinic in Donetsk, doctors performed a unique operation: they removed an unexploded mine from the patient’s right gluteal region.
Andrey Korolkov, a professor at the First St. Petersburg Medical University, spoke about this.
Surgeons had to work in helmets and body armor. Fortunately, they managed to remove a dangerous projectile from the wounded man’s body. “Everyone survived, nothing exploded,” Korolkov said, adding that in a bad situation, body armor would have been a weak defense. Most likely, in the explosion, the doctors’ hands would have been torn off.
The victim is on the mend.
