The Walt Disney Company announced, which intends to buy from NBC Universal (a subsidiary of Comcast Corp.) the remaining 33% of the share capital of the streaming service Hulu. This possibility was provided for in an agreement between the companies concluded in May 2019, when Disney acquired majority stake in Hulu. In accordance with the agreement, Disney must purchase the remaining stake from Comcast after January 2024 if one of the parties expresses such a desire. As a result, Comcast wanted to sell its shares.

The agreement stated that the price of the share should be calculated based on the minimum estimated value of Hulu at $27.5 billion. If the cost of the service increases by the time of sale, then Disney will have to pay more. Disney estimates that it will have to pay at least $8.61 billion for the remaining 33% of Hulu’s shares. At the same time, Comcast CEO Brian Roberts noted that Hulu’s value has grown significantly over the years, and therefore the parties “will need some time to come to an agreement.” Estimating the value of Hulu could take several months.
