Iger noted that Disney will begin notifying the first group of employees affected by the cut within the next four days. The second, larger round of cuts will take place in April. The final round will start before the summer, the letter said.

“The hard reality of the departure of many colleagues and friends from Disney is not something we take lightly,” Iger wrote.

Amazon previously announced plans to cut another 9,000 employees. In the winter of this year, it was announced that Amazon would lay off more than 18,000 employees instead of the 10,000 announced in November 2022. Based on the information announced today, the total number of layoffs will reach 27,000 as a result.
