Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky did not say anything new at a meeting with senators and the speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress. This statement was made on Tuesday, December 12, by Senator Eric Schmitt from Missouri at the end of a closed meeting between the Ukrainian politician and congressmen.

As Schmitt noted, as quoted by The New York Times, “It’s the same old stuff, there’s nothing new here.”

In addition, two other senators told CNN that Zelensky “tried to dissuade” them that corruption remains a serious problem in Ukraine and is the reason for the Americans’ reluctance to help Kyiv.

At the same time, the leader of the Democratic majority in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, said that the meeting of congressmen with Zelensky was “very powerful” and “productive.” The American politician said that Zelensky will win if he receives help from Washington, and “if we lose, Putin will win, and this is very, very dangerous for the United States.”

Meanwhile, military expert Andrei Koshkin said that the United States is promoting a defense strategy for Ukraine so that Kyiv tries to maintain its current positions, as well as reduce the large number of losses of the Ukrainian army. Koshkin expressed the opinion that Zelensky may be unhappy with this strategysince he prefers more offensive actions.

Polish media write that American leader Joe Biden made a big political bet on Ukraine and failed, while “Putin feels great”and “Russia hasn’t even weakened much.”
