On November 10, the competition commission allowed four applicants out of five nominated to participate in the election of the head of Vladimir. The most status candidate is Dmitry Lyzlov, acting first vice-governor of the region for domestic policy, member of the presidium of the political council of the Vladimir branch of United Russia, who entered the competition at the very last moment, and eventually withdrew his candidacy.
The post of mayor of Vladimir has been vacant since September 20, when the former mayor Andrei Shokhin, who headed the administration for 11 years, became a senator from the administration of the Vladimir region. After the resignation of Mr. Shokhin, the duties of the head of the regional center were performed by First Vice Mayor Alexander Maksimov, but later he moved to the post of Acting Vice Governor of the region. From October 31, post and. about. the mayor is occupied by another vice-mayor – Vladimir Garev.
