Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshenko instructed to remove barriers to the introduction of AI in the Russian economy

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko instructed the federal executive authorities (FOIV) to submit to the government a list of measures to remove barriers to the introduction of AI in economic sectors by the end of this year. He stated this following the results of a strategic session on the introduction of artificial intelligence in priority sectors of the economy at the coordinating center under the government, reports TASS.

Mr. Chernyshenko added that the Cabinet of Ministers has already launched a number of measures to support this initiative. Among them are personnel training, support for start-ups and the selection of 6 reference research centers in priority areas of industry development.

He also instructed the Ministry of Digital Development, FKU Gostekh, business and other relevant departments to jointly develop mechanisms for the accumulation of data. The Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Digital Development, Sberbank and the National Center for the Development of AI should develop a mechanism for advising companies implementing artificial intelligence by the end of this year, the Deputy Prime Minister added.

During the session, the National Center for the Development of AI under the government presented statistics, according to which the level of implementation of artificial intelligence in certain industries reaches 20%. Until 2024, it is planned to increase this figure to 50%.

The Cabinet of Ministers transferred the supervision of the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the public sector and in sectors of the economy from the Analytical Center under the Government of the Higher School of Economics (NRU HSE). The National Center for the Development of Artificial Intelligence, created on the basis of the university, was instructed to become a platform for selecting AI solutions for business, science and the state, to engage in the examination of documents on the regulation of this area, as well as expert support for the introduction of AI in public administration and in sectors of the economy.
