Russia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Maria Zabolotskaya said that the United States has launched an unprecedented campaign to put pressure on UN members in order to prevent Russia from being elected to the organization’s Human Rights Council.

According to the diplomat, on October 9, US representatives spoke at the Security Council, calling not to vote for Russia, but to cast their votes for Albania.
According to her, no one ever campaigned in Sobez, and the United States campaigned for Albania
“They visited delegations, sent messages, met in person,” Zabolotskaya said.
Earlier it was reported that Russia was not elected to the UN Human Rights Council for 2024-2026 due to the fact that it did not receive the required number of votes.
