Deputy Nilov’s joke about New Year’s rockets for “boy Vova” in the State Duma was called “inappropriate”

The joke about the New Year’s dream about missiles of a certain “boy Vova from Kyiv”, which was said by State Duma deputy Oleg Nilov (“Fair Russia”) at the Wish Tree charity event, is inappropriate and vulgar, said Yaroslav Nilov (LDPR), deputy chairman of the State Duma commission on ethics.

“Children are not to blame for anything – neither in Kyiv, nor in Kharkov, nor in Moscow,” he told Vedomosti. He did not say whether the behavior of his namesake would be considered by the ethics committee. “When there is a commission, when there is an agenda, then we will consider it. And now there is nothing to talk about,” the deputy noted.

“Any person needs to follow words and deeds, and those who represent the state doubly,” stressed Sergei Panteleev (KPRF), First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Commission on Ethics. Another member of the commission, Yevgeny Revenko (United Russia), declined to comment. Several other members of the commission – Elena Drapeko (Fair Russia), Sergei Leonov (LDPR) and Serdana Avksentieva (New People) – did not answer calls from Vedomosti.

State Duma deputies participated on December 14 in a charity stock “Christmas Tree of Desires”. Envelopes with wishes for the New Year of orphans, military children and children with disabilities from the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions hung on it.

Nilov went up to the tree, took a ball from the tree and “read”: “The boy Vova from Kyiv dreams of rockets. Vova, you will get rockets, wait…”. “It’s a joke, of course,” he added.

A Just Russia representative told Vedomosti that Nilov’s joke was “his personal initiative.” “For all other clarifications, please contact Oleg Anatolyevich,” said the source of Vedomosti.

Nilov did not answer calls from Vedomosti.
