Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov did not rule out a break in relations with the United States

A break in relations between Russia and the United States is not ruled out, but it is not in the interests of the Russian side, declared Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov in an interview with RTVI.

“Depends entirely on the choice that is made in Washington. I do not exclude anything in advance, but this, of course, is not our way and not our move. We are pursuing our policy consistently, proactively, not reactively, including in the American direction, guided purely and exclusively by our national interests, ”Ryabkov answered the question about the possibility of a complete severance of relations between the two countries. He noted that it is in the interests of the Russian side not to break off diplomatic relations with the United States.

In September, Ryabkov on the air of Channel One informed about maintaining contacts between Russia and the United States along various lines: telephone contacts, personal letters, etc. He stressed that Moscow continues to tell Washington that the American side should stop pumping up the situation and not bring it closer to the “dangerous line.”

Relations between Russia and the United States began to deteriorate after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24. Western countries, including the US, UK and EU members, have imposed several packages of sanctions against Russia.

In the spring Ryabkov declaredthat Russian-American relations are on the verge of breaking, in order to maintain them, Washington must stop threats against Moscow, as well as stop the supply of weapons to Kyiv.
