The governor of the Pskov region, Mikhail Vedernikov, appointed the first deputy commander of the Airborne Forces (Airborne Forces) Alexei Naumts as a senator from the region. Mr. Naumets will officially begin acting as a senator tomorrow, September 28, the press service of the government of the Pskov region reported.

At a meeting in the government, Messrs. Vedernikov and Naumets discussed the main directions of joint work. One of them is the protection of military personnel and members of their families, the governor noted. “I will make every effort to achieve the assigned tasks as much as possible,” replied Alexey Naumets (quoted from website government of the Pskov region).

Major General Alexey Naumets has the rank of major general. He has been working in the Russian armed forces since 1986. From 1990 to 2003, he served in the Airborne Forces in various positions in the Belarusian, Siberian and North Caucasus military districts. From 2013 to 2018, Mr. Naumets was the commander of the Pskov Airborne Forces unit. Alexey Naumets was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff of the Airborne Forces in February 2018. In 2019, he became acting chief of staff – first deputy commander of the Airborne Forces.

Alexey Naumets replaced Elena Bibikova as senator of the Pskov region. She has held this position since September 2014. Her powers expire in September of this year.
