Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces announced plans to deploy missile defense systems in the CIS countries

Anti-missile defense (ABM) systems may be deployed on the territory of the CIS countries. This was announced by the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces for Armaments, Colonel General Yuri Grekhov.
“The integration into the regional air defense systems of forces and means capable of solving aerospace defense tasks, as well as the development and implementation of programs to equip the air defense forces of the CIS member states with promising air defense and missile defense systems, continues,” he said (quote according to RIA Novosti).
According to Grekhov, these events are aimed at “completing the practical implementation of interstate agreements on the creation of regional air defense systems in collective security regions.”
Currently, missile defense systems are installed only in Russia and Belarus, while the unified air defense system of the CIS also includes Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
