Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma Committee on Financial Markets, believes that the exchange rate of the Russian currency will not change dramatically in the coming months and will remain at the level of about 90 rubles/$.

According to Mr. Aksakov, sharp fluctuations in the exchange rate of the ruble should not be expected now and it will remain “approximately at the same levels as now.” “The ruble has stabilized. Within these limits, I think, it will function – about 90 rubles / $. That is, there will be no special decrease in it, there will be no strengthening of it either,” the parliamentarian said (quote from TASS).

The State Duma deputy admitted that the situation with the ruble exchange rate was seriously affected by budget spending on new regions of the Russian Federation (DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions) and the military operation in Ukraine. At the same time, he called “an increase in imports to offset the reduction that we observed in 2022” as the main factor putting pressure on the national currency.

On July 24, trading on the Moscow Exchange closed at 90.5 rubles/$. The Central Bank of the Russian Federation set the US dollar exchange rate on July 25 at the level of 90.48 rubles/$.
