The convention for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of tax evasion with respect to taxes on income and property between Russia and Denmark will cease to operate from the beginning of 2024. Copenhagen notified Moscow of the denunciation of the relevant agreement.

The double taxation avoidance agreement between the Russian Federation and Denmark has been in force since 1996. Copenhagen has been discussing the denunciation of the convention since the spring of 2023. Earlier, Latvia suspended a similar agreement.

The Russian Treasury doubled its blacklist of tax havens in June to include unfriendly countries, including the US, the UK and major EU countries. The agency told Kommersant that “countries that stopped exchanging information with Russia after being blacklisted by the EU” were added to the list.
