Davankov suggested that Roskomnadzor unblock Twitter – Kommersant

Vice Speaker of the State Duma and presidential candidate from the New People party Vladislav Davankov sent the head of Roskomnadzor Andrei Lipov a letter with a proposal to unblock the social network X (ex-Twitter) in Russia. He noted that the publication of the president’s interview on this social network confirms its “neutrality in terms of disseminating information.”

“It is significant that many state media referred to the social network banned in Russia and considered how many views Vladimir Putin’s interview with journalist Tucker Carlson was getting. The very fact of publishing such an interview proves that social network X adheres to neutrality in the dissemination of information. And this is the best reason to finally unblock the former Twitter in Russia,” said Vladislav Davankov, his words are quoted in the press release.

Vyacheslav Davankov also referred to the response of the Prosecutor General’s Office to the deputy’s request, from which it follows that an additional decision from the department is not needed to resume access to social network X. In his opinion, after the change of owner, the social network’s policy changed. “Elon Musk even changed the name. They removed more than 90% of the content prohibited in Russia, and removed the blocking from the official accounts of Russian government officials, ministries and organizations,” the vice speaker noted. He also noted that the “Safe Internet League” supported the unblocking of the social network.

President Vladimir Putin’s interview with American host Tucker Carlson was recorded on February 6 and published tonight, February 9. On social network X, within five hours of publication, the interview received almost 52 million views.
