“Daughter” of “Techsnabexport” (included in “Rosatom”) Internexco GmbH will supply enriched uranium to the Brazilian nuclear power plant Angra in 2023-2027, reported in the press service of Rosatom. The contract was signed with the Brazilian state company Industrias Nucleares do Brasil.

“The contract was the result of an open international tender. This is the first long-term contract with Brazil for the supply of enriched uranium products in the history of the state corporation, which opens access to the largest market for uranium products in the Latin American region,” the statement said.

It is specified that the needs of the only nuclear power plant in Brazil, Angra, will be 100% met thanks to Internexco. “Angra” consists of two power units with a capacity of 640 and 1350 megawatts, respectively.

Rosatom, with a production volume of about 7100 tons of uranium per year (about 15% of world production), ranks second in this indicator after Kazakhstan’s Kazatomprom, follows from the data of the analytical company Ux Consulting. The company mines uranium in the Kurgan Region, Zabaikalsky Krai and Buryatia, as well as in Kazakhstan through its subsidiary Uranium One (U1). At the same time, Rosatom ranks first (36% of the market) in the world in uranium enrichment and third (17%) in fuel supplies for nuclear power plants, behind only the American Westinghouse and the French Framatome.
