Daily oil production reduced in Kazakhstan – Kommersant

Daily oil production in Kazakhstan began to decline after the accident at the Mangistau nuclear power plant (MAEK), which occurred on August 11. Writes about it Interfax with reference to the “Situational Analytical Center of the Fuel and Energy Complex” under the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.

According to the analytical center, before the accident at the MAEK, on August 10, daily oil production in Kazakhstan was 232 thousand tons. However, on August 11, daily production decreased to 220.4 thousand tons, on August 12 – to 217.5 thousand tons, on August 13 – to 215 thousand tons.
August 11, according to the power grid management company KEGOCat 14:20 local time (11:20 Moscow time) there was a shutdown of two turbine units at CHPP-2 of the MAEK, which led to subsequent outages in the Atyrau power center – by 45 MW, in the Mangistau power center – by 98 MW.
At 16:30 (13:30 Moscow time) another block was switched off. The accident led to a limitation of electric power consumption by 55 MW in the Atyrau power center and by 35 MW in the Mangistau power center. At 19:15 (16:15 Moscow time), the restrictions in the Atyrau energy center were completely lifted. Since August 13, partial restrictions on the consumption of electrical energy have been introduced in the Mangistau region.
The accident at the MAEK thermal power plant also occurred on July 3. Then emergency blacked out power unit No. 1 with a load of 130 MW. Because of this, the Mangystau and Atyrau energy centers switched to isolated work. Without power supply remained Kazakh part of the Caspian pipeline.
