Czech minister warns of revolution if energy crisis worsens

The Czech Republic’s political system could be in jeopardy if the energy crisis is not resolved, Justice Minister Pavel Blazek said Friday in the lower house of the republic’s parliament.
Blazek calls the situation in the social sphere the most dramatic since 1989, transmits idnes edition.
“If the energy crisis is not resolved, the political system of this country will be in jeopardy. If a pan-European solution is not found, the EU as such is even in danger. If the government does not solve the energy crisis, it will still not drag on for a long time,” the minister said.
The price of electricity in Germany and the UK reached record levels, Bloomberg reported on August 15. It was noted that in Germany the cost of electricity on the wholesale market rose in August almost six times compared to last year’s level, and in the UK – seven times.
This week’s newspaper Le Figaro reportedthat the wholesale price of electricity in France has reached an all-time high of over 1,000 euros per MWh, 1,000% more than a year ago.
