The Public Council under the State Duma Committee on Culture on Thursday discussed the issue of reflecting the goals, objectives and principles of state cultural policy in legislation. Committee Chairman Elena Yampolskaya proposed bringing the law “On Culture” in line with “our modern reality,” adding to it such tasks as protecting “traditional values” and “cultural sovereignty,” as well as “resisting external influence.” Industry representatives, in turn, shared their complaints and suggestions.
