CSTO exercises “Combat Brotherhood” to be held in Belarus

Belarus will host a joint operational-strategic exercise of the CSTO “Combat Brotherhood-2023”. About it reported in the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic.
The exercises will be held from September 1 to 6 at the training grounds and “sites” of the Brest, Grodno and Minsk regions.
It is planned to conduct several types of exercises that combine the training of various components of the CSTO collective forces. Thus, within the framework of Interaction-2023, the use of forces and means of the CSTO collective security system will be practiced in order to “settle the crisis situation in the Eastern European region.” It is planned to conduct an exercise with the forces and means of intelligence “Poisk-2023” and with the forces and means of logistics “Echelon-2023”.
For the first time in Belarus, exercises will be held with the joint formation of radiation, chemical, biological protection and medical support of the CSTO Barrier-2023.
The Ministry of Defense clarified that military contingents will begin to relocate to Belarus tomorrow, on August 25, to participate in the exercise.
in the CSTO clarifiedthat contingents of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan will take part in the exercises. More than 2,500 military personnel and over 500 pieces of equipment will be involved in the events. The CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov will attend the opening of the exercises.
The purpose of the exercises in the CSTO was called “improving the coordination and coherence of the work of command and control bodies during the preparation and conduct of a joint operation.” Also, the task is to form “high morale and combat qualities, psychological stamina and physical endurance among military personnel.”
According to the CSTO report, Armenia, which is a member of the CSTO, will not participate in the exercises in Belarus. At the beginning of the year Yerevan refused conduct exercises throughout the country.
