The director of the Central Museum of Taurida, Andrei Malgin, called the upcoming transfer to Ukraine of a collection of Scythian gold, exhibited for many years in Amsterdam, a seizure of part of the cultural heritage of Crimea.
The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine on Wednesday boasted of reaching an agreement with the Dutch Allard Pearson Museum on the transfer of a collection of Scythian gold to the Ukrainian side. The Netherlands Museum reportedly did not charge for the nine-year storage of museum exhibits.
“In fact, we are dealing with the seizure of part of the cultural heritage,” Malgin said, repeating his previously voiced position. According to him, Crimean museums are not aware of the agreement between the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine and the Dutch Allard Pearson Museum.
