Crimea decided to connect with the Kherson region by a new road

But it can interfere with the development of the resort

The head of the Republic of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, announced the construction of a road on the Arabat Spit, which should connect Crimea with the territories that became part of the Russian Federation last fall. The creation of an alternative route was supported by the authorities of the Kherson region and have even begun construction.

Today, several buses run between Crimea and the Kherson region. Tickets for the route left-bank Kherson – Yalta will cost 3,000 rubles one way. A trip, for example, from Skadovsk to Simferopol costs 2,500 rubles. The route “Kherson – Crimea” is as follows: Kherson region – Border Kalanchak – Armyansk – Krasnoperekopsk – and further to Sevastopol. Travel time is from 9 to 12 hours.

Now the Russian authorities are going to launch a train from Crimea to Kherson. It is expected that the railway communication will open in May. “We discussed with the railway workers a plan to open new routes for electric trains. In the near future it will be possible to get from Genichesk to Simferopol. Further, the plan is to launch electric trains with the message Vadim – Kalanchak – Mirnoye – Armyansk – Simferopol, ”Andrei Alekseenko, head of the government of the Kherson region, wrote in his telegram channel.

But there is another idea: to lay a new route from the Kherson region to the Crimea along a long sandy spit. Arabat Strelka is a narrow strip of land in the northeastern part of the Crimean peninsula, consisting mainly of shell material, separating the Sivash Bay from the Sea of ​​Azov. The authorities of the peninsula planned to turn it into a new road. “The highway will help to shorten the path and simplify logistics. It will be possible to ensure the safety of the route without additional fencing, this will reduce construction costs,” Aksenov said.

It is too early to talk about the cost of the project and the timing of its implementation. The head of the Crimean parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, noted that first it is necessary to wait for the termination of the Russian special operation on the territory of Ukraine: “It is necessary that it be completed in full, so that there are no threats to anyone. Then you can offer ideas, implement various investment projects.”

Nevertheless, construction on the Arabat Spit is already in full swing – in early February, the Kherson authorities began building a resort town for 30,000 people there. The idea to build a new city on this part of the land belongs to Russian President Vladimir Putin. In December, the bridge connecting Genichesk with the Arabat Spit was already restored.

– Now the Arabat Spit will be actively developed. It can be like one of the intensive roads, and from this point of view it will be effective. The second thing that could be is a recreational area. Arabatskaya Strelka is a unique natural object that should be developed in terms of health resort recreation. There are hot springs and a huge line of the sea. If you build a resort complex there, then you can build a road, but not through, but for local vacationers. That is, to prohibit heavy trucks from passing through it. I think the second option is the most suitable.

The Arabat Strelka is an ecologically fragile object. It is narrow and has complex soil with swamps. But, of course, its development in the interests of sanatoriums is absolutely necessary.
