Russian cosmonauts Sergei Prokopyev, Dmitry Petelin and Andrey Fedyaev congratulated the Russians on the Day of Russia from the International Space Station. A video congratulation was published by Roscosmos in Telegram.
“We are united by the brightest, warmest feelings for Russia, pride in her, in the accomplishments of our ancestors, concern for the present and future of the fatherland,” Mr. Prokopyev said in his congratulations. Mr. Fedyaev said that devotion to the motherland will always be the basis of the country’s unity. Mr. Petelin noted that generations of Russians are united by history, spiritual values and moral foundations.
Russia Day has been celebrated since 1992 on June 12. On this day in 1990, the Declaration on State Sovereignty of the RSFSR was adopted. Since 1991, June 12 has been a non-working day.
