Constitutions of the DPR and LPR will be adopted synchronously on December 30

On Friday, December 30, the constitutions of the two new republics within Russia, the DPR and the LPR, will be simultaneously adopted, a source close to the State Duma told Vedomosti.
Denis Miroshnichenko, speaker of the People’s Council of the LPR, told reporters at a press conference on December 29 that the regional parliament would meet on December 30: “Tomorrow [30 декабря] there will be a plenary session, one of the issues will be the adoption of the constitution.”
On December 4, Vladimir Bidevka, speaker of the People’s Council of the DPR, said that such an event was planned before the end of 2022. “It is planned to complete all legal processes in the near future in order to adopt a new constitution for the Donetsk People’s Republic already as a subject of the Russian Federation by the end of the year,” he told reporters .
The press in the DPR was invited to a meeting of the regional parliament on December 30, without specifying its agenda.
Vedomosti wrote on November 1 that the Kremlin had determined the procedure for adopting the basic laws of the regions, which on September 30 signed agreements on joining Russia. It was assumed that before the end of November, work on the constitutions of the DPR and LPR would be completed and after that they would be submitted for approval to the people’s assemblies of these subjects of the Federation.
First of all, they decided to deal with the constitutions of the DPR and LPR, since acting deputies elected after the declaration of independence from Ukraine, but even before joining the Russian Federation, can vote for their adoption, the federal official said.
The charters of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, as Vedomosti wrote with reference to sources, will be adopted at other times. “This will not happen before the new parliaments of these subjects of the Federation are elected,” the federal official said.
Their elections are scheduled for September 10, 2023, and there are no plans to postpone them yet, Vedomosti wrote on December 26.
