A performance by Russian pianist Denis Matsuev has been canceled in Vienna, Austria. informs the Slipped Disc portal with a link to the Wiener Konzerthaus concert hall.

According to the source, French pianist Alexander Kantorov will play the concert instead of Matsuev.

Concert hall management clarifiedthat it does not plan to provide a platform for artists who, in one way or another, are in solidarity with the political position of the Kremlin. Note that Denis Matsuev has repeatedly spoken with the support of the Russian authorities and President Putin. Nevertheless, the pianist did not voice his opinion regarding the CBO.

At the end of December, two performances by Russian dancer Sergei Polunin at the Arcimboldi Theater were canceled in Italy. According to representatives of the theater, the decision is connected with the flow of threats that Arcimboldi received due to the presence of Polunin on stage. Despite this, the theater is convinced that we are talking about political and moral responsibility.

Gianmario Longoni, head of the theatre, said the cancellation of performances had been agreed with the artists. The director suggested that today is not the right situation to expect a positive response from the audience.
