As part of the annual professional exhibition Moscow Watch Expo, which has been held since 2011, which will take place this year from October 11 to 13, the Best Russian Watch competition is held for the first time. It was organized by the Watch Media publishing house and the National Association of Watchmakers. The winners will be determined by online voting, which takes place on the website watchaward.ru until October 9th. 74 models were submitted for participation in nine categories: Russian Mechanics, Heritage, Men’s Watches, Women’s Watches, Sports Watches, Precious Metal Watches, Independent Watchmakers, Craftsmanship and ideas”, “Interior clock”.

It is interesting that about 2 million wristwatches and 6 million interior watches are produced in Russia annually, but most domestic consumers are not familiar with these products. The competition and the special exposition “Made in Russia” are designed to stimulate interest in them.

Kommersant Style, which acted as an information partner of the event, pays special attention to the nominations “Russian Mechanics”, where watches with mechanisms made in Russia or the former USSR are allowed, and “Independent Watchmakers”, whose partner was Konstantin Chaykin. The only Russian winner of the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix is an expert in this nomination, which gives it additional authority. By the way, visitors to the Moscow Watch Expo on October 12-13 will be able to personally see the complex mechanical watch by Konstantin Chaikin at the Made in Russia exposition.
