The Russian political elite celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Constitution, arguing that there were no grounds for amending it. Chairman of the Constitutional Court Valery Zorkin spoke about this at a meeting with the president: all the necessary changes were made back in 2020. State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, as well as the “foremen” of the latest constitutional reform, Senator Andrei Klishas and State Duma Deputy Pavel Krasheninnikov, also insisted on the immutability of the Constitution, which after the 2020 reform has enough potential for self-development. However, the very intensity of these statements makes one wonder whether the updated Constitution is also under pressure – primarily from those who believe that it is difficult for a modern state to exist without ideology.
