Colombian Foreign Minister Calls on Israeli Ambassador to Leave Country

Colombian Foreign Minister Alvaro Leyva said that Israeli Ambassador Gali Dagan should apologize for his statements against the country’s authorities and leave its borders. The reason was a squabble between the country’s President Gustavo Petro and the ambassador, which arose against the backdrop of the IDF operation in the Gaza Strip. Petro initially said he supported the Palestinians and that the Israelis were using “scorched earth tactics.” Dagan criticized these statements.
“It’s a shame. At the very least, ask for forgiveness and leave,” Minister Leyva said on the social network.
Earlier, President Petro himself said that Colombia was ready to suspend diplomatic relations with Israel.
