CNN: HIMARS in Ukraine lose effectiveness due to Russian EW systems
[ad_1]
In recent months, Russia has increasingly blocked the American HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems used by the Ukrainian military. On Friday, May 5, reports CNN, citing informed sources.
According to the channel’s interlocutors, the Russian Armed Forces successfully use electronic warfare systems (EW), with the help of which they “shoot down” the missile guidance system of the American HIMARS MLRS.
This leads to a noticeable decrease in the effectiveness of this type of weapon and forces the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Pentagon to intensively look for options to bypass Russian EW systems.
Earlier, the American media have already reported, citing secret Pentagon documents leaked to the Internet, that the Russian Armed Forces use a secret weapon, with which they can deprive the Ukrainian army of communications. We are talking about the electronic warfare system “Tobol”. With its help, the RF Armed Forces, according to journalists, interfered with the operation of the Starlink satellite system used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian authorities are concerned about obtaining electronic warfare funds for their own army. Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov asked the Japanese authorities to provide Kyiv with electronic warfare equipmentcapable of jamming drones.
